HOW EXACT PATH WORKS
Personalized Testing for Meaningful Growth

The Exact Path diagnostic test is a computer-adaptive, untimed assessment designed to measure your child’s academic abilities in math, reading, and language arts. Instead of a simple pass or fail, the test adjusts in real time to match your child’s skill level, providing a personalized and accurate evaluation based on state and national standards.

How It Works:

Adaptive Questioning: The difficulty level changes based on responses, ensuring a customized testing experience.
Balanced Challenge: Your child is expected to answer about half of the questions correctly and half incorrectly—this is normal!
No Time Pressure: The test is untimed, allowing students to work at their own pace.
Actionable Insights: Parents receive detailed performance reports, including strengths, learning gaps, and national percentile rankings.
Breaks Encouraged: Short breaks every 15–20 minutes are recommended to keep students focused.

This approach provides a clear academic roadmap, helping parents and educators guide their child’s learning journey effectively.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Working with someone who is a PEP Scholarship provider made the whole process so much easier! I was able to find Lingua Learning LLC on the marketplace and submit payment using our scholarship funds without any hassle. It was a seamless experience, and I didn’t have to worry about figuring out the logistics. The flexibility of taking the test at home and having everything paid for with our scholarship made this option the perfect fit for our homeschool.

Emily Homeschool Mom of 5th Grader

As a homeschool mom, I was worried about finding a test that would be both accurate and stress-free for my child. Exact Path was exactly what we needed! The test is not timed, and my son felt comfortable taking it at his own pace. We really liked the text-to-speech option as he can struggle with reading. There was no pressure, and he didn’t feel overwhelmed like with traditional tests. The personalized feedback we received was invaluable and gave us clear insights into his strengths and areas for improvement. It was such a smooth and positive experience for both of us!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Exact Path approved by the Florida Department of Education?

Yes! Exact Path is a nationally norm-referenced assessment that meets Florida’s scholarship testing requirements. It is an approved option for students using the Personalized Education Program (PEP) Scholarship to fulfill their annual assessment requirement.

What if my student doesn’t know the answer to a question or thinks it’s too hard?

That’s completely normal! Exact Path is designed to challenge students at different levels. If your child sees something unfamiliar, that means the test is doing its job. Instead of spending too much time on one question, just select an answer and move on—the test will adjust accordingly.

Are there any accommodations with the testing?

Yes! While Exact Path is untimed, allowing students to work at their own pace, it also includes:

  • Reader tools with text-to-speech options to assist students who need help with reading.

  • The ability to pause, save, and return later if a break is needed.

What if my child gets tired of answering questions and just wants to finish?
  • It’s important to pace the test to prevent fatigue. While the number of questions varies by grade level, here’s a general guideline:

    • K-1st grade: ~20 questions per test (15-20 minutes)

    • 2nd-4th grade: ~20-25 questions

    • 6th grade: ~40 questions

    • 8th grade & up: ~50-55 questions

If your child starts losing focus, simply hit save and exit—it’s okay to take breaks!

What do you recommend to help my student succeed?

To keep students engaged and prevent guessing due to fatigue:
Set a timer for 10-15 minutes per session.
✅ Allow your child to take short breaks when needed.
✅ Aim to complete the test within a week by doing multiple short sessions.

I’ve never administered an online test before. How do I know what to do?

Don’t worry! Upon registration, parents receive:

  • Student login credentials

  • A step-by-step PDF guide with instructions

  • A script & screenshots to make administration easy

What if I don’t know my student’s grade level?

We understand that homeschoolers don’t always report grade levels. Here’s how to determine it:

  • Use the grade your child would be in if enrolled in public school.

  • Select the grade level you reported when applying for the PEP Scholarship.
